Monterey:
To send our summer out with a bang we did another last minute trip to Monterey and Santa Cruz. We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium again and then headed down the street for our favorite Salt Water Taffy shop.
I have always wanted a gigantic aquarium in my house, but I think I would be happy with a jellyfish tank. They are breath-taking!

I've never seen these ones before. It is truly amazing to think of all of God's creations and how spectacular they are. These reminded me of sand dollars.
Poor baby was just too tired to enjoy it.
This is what you get when you drive 3 1/2 hours, check in to a shady hotel, dump the kids in the car for another hour drive and postpone their dinner by 2 hours. Not a good combo.
This year
Last year. Big difference in size!
Those darn sting rays know where the people hang out. After 20 minutes we finally pulled the kids away. They were never going to pet them anyway.
Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk:
Brynn wanted desperately to go on this ride. But the wait was FOR-E-VER! so I told her maybe next year. I can't tell you how many times I went on this as a kid. So many memories.
It sure sucks being sooo willing yet too little to ride all the rides. Poor kid.
The picture of Misery!
And then we have this kid who couldn't care less. Just keep stuffing him with crackers.
This is what happens when you try to kiss him: First he plays coy . . .
Then he lets you think you're getting a kiss . . .
. . . but actually he bites your lips or gives you a fish hook . . .
. . . followed by a few slaps across the face and messing up your hair, all the while thinking
he is the funniest thing ever.
I want to print this series off so that when the kids are fighting and they say they wish they didn't have any brothers or sisters to have to deal with they can look at these and remember that they do have fun with them. Lots of fun!

First Brynn was like "Mom take my picture!"
Then Bryson moans "Oh, I
hate having my picture taken!" and covers his face. Then Brynn turns around and she's like "Um, yeah, me
too!" Whatever!
Can you see Brynn peeking through her fingers. I can hear her saying "Wait, why are we covering our faces again?"
Hudson doesn't care. He was just happy he finally got to ride something. And be all alone with his dad.
They wouldn't let me get their faces so I got their feet instead!
This was a really comfortable ride down apparently. How do you sleep like that?
It was pretty cold but the only thing that would cheer this kid up was some Dippin Dots.
Playing hard and having a totally crazy summer is enough to make the best of us crash hard.
That's a big baby!
