Sweet Sketty Update

Here's what Angel Babe did for month 8:

*got 5 teeth within 2 weeks

*learned to pull himself up onto furniture and walk around

*started eating solids (likes just about everything)

*learned to clap and is very generous with his applause

*went camping for the first time

*went to the beach for the first time and LOVED it!

*learned to growl

*finally laughs

Sketty loves Max. When Max is outside he kneels at the door and smacks it with both hands while yelling at the dog. Max is really good with him too. Stetson also discovered the bottom drawers. I have to put everything back in them a hundred times a day.

I can't resist a squishy little naked bum. Every time I change him its like wrestling an octopus. He's always flipping all over the place and most of the time manages to get away from me.

Stetson loves baths, especially now that he can sit up in them. Hudson loves to climb in with him and they look so alike with their blonde hair.

He's almost too big for his carseat but he gets some great naps in while we're driving around. The other picture is when we were camping over Memorial Day. He slept through the night 2 of the 3 nights we were there and almost every night since. Hallelujah!

Also found the stash of stuff under the boys' bed. I get to clean up this mess quite often too. He wasn't real sure about the sand at first, had to squish his toes around in it for a bit, and then decided it felt good.

Some of his funny faces. The one on the left usually comes with lots of spit and a really red face. The one on the right is why we call him "Bucky". We can always see his little buck teeth poking out. He is the cutest little boy ever!

Once he realized how good the sand felt he would stretch out on his tummy and wave his arms around in it. He loved it. He also really enjoyed playing under the umbrella and using it for support. I love this umbrella. Its the best for little kids. Another great Costco find.

Family Funnies

After taking the kids to the dentist they were going through their swag bags and Hudson yells out "Oh yea! They gave me gentle floss!"

Hudson's milk sensitivity has come back full force since he's been on allergy meds and often he is uncomfortable with "stummy cakes".

Brynn asked me one night if it was 5:30. When I said 'no' she said "well then, what o'clock is it?"

Brynn and I were talking about things she could do/be when she grows up. She said "Well, you know how you don't do anything all day? I think I just wanna do that. I'll just be a mom and marry someone like Dad and then I can stay home and do nothing all day."

Easter morning I made some cinnamon rolls. While they were baking Hudson ran into the kitchen and yelled "Oh. My. Gosh! What am I smelling?!"

Hudson comes up with every excuse you can think of to get out of bed every night. His latest one: "I think I just have to stay out here with you guys for a while. Every time I go back to bed my belly starts hurting. I don't know why! Its so weird."

Now that the baby is walking around furniture he gets into a lot of stuff. Often I'll hear Hudson tell him "No, Sketty that's dangerous. You're making me soooo nervous/you're freaking me out here dude."

Bryson cleaned the kitchen with me one day and an hour later it was time to eat. Once he saw
the messy kitchen he said "Holy Cow! You guys make the biggest mess! Do you know how long it took me to clean this place?"

I was trying to coax Stetson into eating bananas once and he was not having anything to do with it. Brynn said "Well, Mom, you gag when you eat bananas so you shouldn't force him to either."

When the news was covering Bin Laden I had an opportunity to give a little history lesson to the kids. I would give them a few details about 911 and Bryson would say "Okay, What else?" After about an hour of this I had thoroughly cleaned out my memory bank and nothing else to offer. So he said, "Alright, I'll just have to look it up on the internet."

We went to the school's Spring Fling and Tanner ran into some girls that he had gone to high school with. They were all very . . . friendly! Later I was laughing about Tan being a 'Ladies Man' and how they were all hitting on him. Hudson asked "Dad, why were they all smacking you?"

When we found that kitty I told Hudson we should try to feed him some milk and he said "Wait, from your boob?!"

Whenever Bryson has a baseball game he asks "Who are we versing?"

Hudson was a having a bad day and came up to us and said "Ughhhh, I need a coke soooo bad!"

When we were counting down the days till summer vacation Hudson got confused about Sundays. When I told him we still had to do chores and got to church and stuff he started tearing up and said "How come we never get to have summer vacation from church?"

Every time Brynn says family prayer at night she prays that they will all go to sleep and never wake up!

Lucky the Kitty

Tuesday I went visiting teaching after dropping off Hudson at preschool.

When I came home I was working in the garage with the door closed and I heard a weird noise.

When I got out at preschool I heard the same noise and thought it must have been a weird bird and Miss Cindy must have them at her house too.

Back at our house I turned off the car and still heard the noise. It was raining pretty hard so it was difficult to localize the sound. Eventually Hudson and I started looking around the car and finally down by the wheel well.

What should I see but a little tiny kitty looking at me.

So I popped the hood and pulled a kitten out of my engine!

I know he drove with me at least to preschool and back but I don't know when or where he got in there. He is lucky he didn't fall out while I was driving or get stuck in a belt or something.

We kept him for a night and after peeing on a few things we found a good home for him.

All the kids loved having the little furball for 2 days and were sad to see him go.

I thought Hud was gonna start tearing up when I found her-- he could hardly stand it.

They oohed and awed over everything the kitty did.

Kids are so sweet with small helpless animals.

Mother's Day

For Mother's Day Tanner got me a

beautiful bouquet of roses. I am not one of those

wives who requires the husband to make a big deal of things

like birthdays, anniversaries, Mother's Day, or Valentines Day.

I know he loves me and he shows me every day

with all the little things he does.

But I will always accept a nice bouquet of flowers:)

(While Tanner was arranging these in the vase I asked if he needed help and he said "Heck no! I took Horticulture in High School!" Silly me . . . )

And even though I'm 'the meanest mom ever!'

I know my kids love me and appreciate me.

Hudson likes to get me bouquets of a more generic nature.

He even did the arranging all by himself too.

Bryson was working over at Grandma's one day and asked if he thought

I'd like some lilacs. He said "Um, no. Hudson picks her dandelions every day."

In primary they had the kids fill out a questionnaire about their moms. Hudson thinks

I weigh 40 lbs, have green eyes, I'm 20 years old, favorite food is salad, birthday is in September, I'm the best at doing dishes, I was born in Reno, and I like to do dishes, clean house and fold laundry.

Race for the Cure

Yesterday was my very first Race for the Cure 5K. Sueanne's done it for 4 years now and since one of the cousins just went through breast cancer this past fall I thought it would be great to support the cause. There was a record breaking 25,000 people who felt the same way. I loved all the costumes and the group names and slogans. Next year I'll take my whole family.

There were tons of kids walking with their families, like this little girl.

Sweetness slept all the way through it and woke up at the finish line

Easter Break

During Easter Break my sister Becky came up with her family, who we haven't seen for at least a year, and we had such a great visit. We really enjoyed our sleeping in (which also means no early morning lunch making for me) and our relaxed schedule. But don't be fooled into thinking we didn't do much. Our 2 weeks flew by and we were busy for most of it. Becky and Michele and I took our families to the Folsom zoo which I had never been to before. Peacocks EVERYWHERE.

I LOVE peacocks. I would consider getting a bunch when we buy property if there was some way to make them quiet. So pretty to look at.

The kids enjoyed all the other animals and especially the train ride afterward.

AJ is Bryson's biggest fan now I think because B takes such great care of his younger cousins. And he also enjoys wrestling with them too which, fortunately AJ can handle. Doc Hudson is also AJ's fave and Huddy just ate. it. up! He loves having a little fan and would get a big ole grin every time AJ would call out "Doc Hudson!".

Hudson thought the deer were sitting close to the fence so that you could touch them so he gave her a little ear massage. Brynn loves to hold hands with all her little friends and cousins everywhere she goes. Jess and Jacqui do a pretty good job of sharing Sketty anytime they're around.

Awww!

The train conductor saw my camera and said he used to be a photographer so he wanted to check my settings. He messed around with it and then took the picture on the right and said "See? Doesn't that look so much better? Don't the colors just look so much richer and warmer?" After uploading the picture I had to go back and change all my settings to my preference. I will not be signing up for private lessons from him.



Saturday morning we went to an Easter egg hunt put on by the local FD. Not many people know about it so the kids made out like bandits. Had eggs falling out of their baskets cuz they were so full. Then went to Mom and Dads and had another egg hunt in the front yard.

Hudson's new favorite person is Aunt Becky. I don't think he really remembers her from last time but he is totally smitten. After the first day they left and he goes "Awww, she's so nice." Then the next day he told her how pretty she looked. When I mentioned we were going to the zoo he said "Wait! Is aunt Becky going?" He asked her a few times if she knew him when he was younger and other things about their relationship in the past;-) He was sad to see her go and wishes they lived closer. He gets confused with who's who in the family so he combined AJ and Isaiah into "IJ". That way they're both covered.

Daddy didn't get to dye eggs with us earlier in the week so we did another 2 dozen on Saturday night. We will be having "doubled eggs" and egg salad sandwiches for quite some time.

Then Easter morning we went to Grandma Connie's for another easter egg hunt. It started raining so we had to do the hunt inside. That was a grand total of 3 hunts within 24 hours. They got it pretty good this year.





Funny story: While we were dying eggs as a family we had our Easter lesson and talked about the Savior and his sacrifice. We were trying to stress the importance of the Atonement in our lives. Bryson is starting to get it, now that he is baptized. He feels more responsibility for his actions. So after our little chat we watched a movie called To This End Was I Born. It portrays the events leading up to the Savior's crucifixion, including a few scenes where Jesus is being mocked and people are yelling at him.

A few days later we had some cousins over and all the boys were running around the backyard playing "warriors". All of a sudden I hear Hudson yell "Lets kill Jesus!" I called him in and said that he should never ever talk like that. "But Mom! I'm the bad guys!" He was trying to be the Roman soldiers in the movie about the Savior so I suggested he pick different bad guys. "Like who? Bounty Hunters?" Sure. "Okay!" So if anyone ever hears him yell out "Lets kill Jesus!" you'll know why.
